DESCRIPTION:Placer to Reapply for Prohousing Designation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVirtual Meeting\nPlacer County is preparing to reapply for California’s Prohousing Designation\, and we want your input! \nJoin our virtual community meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 1 to learn more and provide feedback (meeting info yet to come). \nThe draft reapplication will be available for public review Aug. 27. \nHCD Prohousing Designation \nIn 2023\, Placer County was named the first county in California to receive the state’s Prohousing Designation\, a distinction that provides Placer and its private development partners a competitive edge in obtaining grant funding toward affordable housing\, workforce housing\, sustainable community development and infrastructure projects. \nThe Prohousing Designation program was formed in 2019 as part of a spectrum of support\, incentives\, and accountability measures to help meet California’s housing goals\, according to state officials. \nEarning the coveted Prohousing Designation provides the county additional points or other preference in the scoring of competitive housing\, community development\, and infrastructure programs.  Local governments with Prohousing Designation are eligible to apply for new Prohousing Incentive Program grant funding\, a $26 million state investment from the Building Homes and Jobs Trust Fund. \nFall 2026 Application \nPlacer’s designation expires at the end of 2026 so the County will reapply in fall 2026. Staff will post the draft application to this webpage by this fall and will host an online community meeting and bring the draft application to the Board of Supervisors this fall before submitting the application to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). \nPlacer County earned the designation by promoting infill development with zoning amendments to allow residential and mixed-use development with a design review in commercial zones within the county\, and the planned creation of a multi-family and mixed-use design manual to set objective development standards\, helping streamline construction and cut costs. SUMMARY:Community Meeting on the Future of the Former Dollar Creek Crossing Site
DESCRIPTION:Placer County is requesting community input on the future of the site formerly known as the Dollar Creek Crossing housing development. The previous version of the Dollar Creek Crossing development has been canceled. The County is now in the process of gathering feedback on what type of housing the community wants to see constructed at the site. This feedback will inform a Request for Proposals set to be released in early 2027 for construction of a new project. SUMMARY:Nevada County Housing Element Community Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Nevada County is asking residents to share their thoughts about housing as the County prepares a plan that will guide housing decisions in unincorporated county for the next eight years. \nThe County is updating its Housing Element\, a key part of the County’s General Plan\, which is the roadmap for how land will be used and how the community will grow over time. This is an important opportunity for all county residents to share what types of housing they think are needed between 2027 and 2035\, where housing makes sense in unincorporated areas and what housing challenges they see. Separate plans will be completed by Grass Valley\, Nevada City and Truckee for their residents. \nTwo ways residents can provide input are: \n\nComplete a survey by Sept. 6. The survey asks about people’s current housing situation\, affordability and rental experiences\, the housing types they believe are most needed\, and housing trends.\nAttend a Community Workshop Sept. 29. The workshop is 6-7:30 p.m. in the Board Chambers\, Nevada County Government Center\, 950 Maidu Ave.\, Nevada City. Learn more about the Housing Element\, ask questions\, provide input.\n\nThe Housing Element identifies steps the County can take to make sure people with a range of incomes and circumstances have opportunities to find housing. It also identifies where different types of housing could potentially be built. \nAn overview of the draft Housing Element will be presented to the Board of Supervisors Oct. 20.
